 Welcome to Austin Nursing News! We are Austin's premier nursing resource guide for fun, creativity, community, education, and networking. Our mission is to connect the nursing community through creative expressions, product and service listings, shared resources, and networking. Austin Nursing News began as the brainchild of Anne Marie Pizarro, RN, BSN, a nurse and entrepreneur in Austin, Texas. Her passion for business and networking allowed her to see where that was lacking in her industry. Anne visualized a more supportive and personal relationship-based community in nursing. She also felt that bringing the personal touch to a nurse's life outside of the workplace creates a great foundation for keeping sane in a busy, demanding lifestyle. What is Austin Nursing News about? We embrace the nobility of this profession by humanizing nursing outside of the work place. We know that nurses are more than their jobs. They are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, artists, musicians, healers, athletes, professors, travelers, photographers...the list could go on. This site is dedicated to helping nurses express the other side of who they are. We want to see your beautiful works of art, hear about the fantastic yoga practice that you've set up, wear the smashing clothing that you create, see you perform on stage with a band, and above all...support you in your growth towards wholeness. Listed below are ways that you can put your personal stamp on the nursing community: About Us introduces who the movers and shakers are behind Austin Nursing News. From founder, Anne Marie Pizarro, RN, BSN, to other team members - these are the face and voices of our online community. The Marketplace allows the community to showcase their talents, products, services, and events specifically to nurses. It also allows them to advertise events, such as mixers, garage sales, parties, classes, workshops, and celebrations. Resources encourages nurses to post interesting information that may be useful to other nurses in the area, such as restaurants, uniform shops, childcare places, and shops & boutiques. Education encourages nurses to post information that is related to learning. Whether it be continuing education classes, seminars, or alternative healing classes, this site is a great place to share that information with other nurses who are interested in furthering their knowledge base. Employment allows nurses and employers to advertise job openings and match prospective employers to employees. There is also a special section that encourages entrepreneurship in and out of nursing through our Business Opportunity of the Month section. Entertainment is a special treat! We break down what kind of nurse you are? Are you a foodie, a music lover, crafty diva, sports fanatic, movie goer, or nature lovin' kinda nurse? Then this guide allows you to share your interests and their hot-spots around the city. It's a great way to make going out more fun!
